Velocitas Bullet Systems makes solid copper, lead-free ammunition and projectiles. We're a Type 06 FFL manufacturer in Amarillo, Texas. We design our own bullets and machine them in-house, then load and inspect every round before it ships.

Our approach

​

We'd rather make fewer rounds we can stand behind than chase volume. It starts with the bullet: solid copper, a sharp nose, and slits cut into the body, tuned to the job the round has to do. With no barrier or a soft one in the way, it opens into petals on impact. Put a hard barrier in front of it, like glass, steel, or an auto door, and it folds in and drives through, holding together and keeping nearly all its weight. No lead, no jacket to separate, no annealing or reswaging.

A growing lineup

Our defensive line is built barrier-blind for close range. The VX9, our 9mm 96-grain load, is the round we've tested hardest, offered as loaded ammo and as a component projectile.

On the rifle side we build precision solid copper bullets with high, competitive BCs and a fracturing terminal design: the petals shear off on impact while a solid core keeps driving straight and deep. The VX223 in .223/5.56 leads that line, and we're expanding into more rifle calibers as they clear testing.

How it's made

​

The bullets are machined from solid C101 oxygen-free copper on a Swiss screw machine, held to tight tolerances, with bullet-to-bullet variation of plus or minus two ten-thousandths of an inch. From there they're loaded and verified in-house, on the same equipment we use for load development, so what we test is what we sell.

How it's tested

​

We test hard, and we show the proof. Our ammo is run through the FBI barrier protocol and evaluated by independent labs. We publish our lab results in plain numbers, with the lab and date next to each one. The full FBI-protocol and law enforcement data is available to qualified law enforcement, military, and dealers on request.
