Here's how it works. Put a hard barrier in front of it — auto glass, sheet steel, a car door — and the nose folds in and drives through, holding together and keeping nearly all its weight. Hit soft tissue and it opens into petals, expanding its surface area to transfer energy where you want it. Same round, two behaviors, depending on what it hits. That's what "barrier-blind" means.
