The VX223 is a 60-grain solid copper, lead-free .223/5.56 built for barriers. Like the VX9 it's machined from solid copper with slits cut into its coned nose, compatible with .223 and 5.56 rifles.
The terminal design is different from the pistol round on purpose. On impact the petals shear off, and the solid copper core keeps driving straight and deep. Lower retained weight here isn't the round failing — it's the design doing its job: the petals do their work early, the core carries through.
Our standard load runs about 2,875 fps from a 20-inch AR-15. The same 60-grain bullet, in our law enforcement load, was independently FBI-protocol tested: 16.86 inches of penetration at 2,307 fps from an 11.5-inch barrel. Made in the USA. 20-round box.
