The VX223 is a solid copper, lead-free .223/5.56 built for barriers. Like the VX9 it's machined from solid copper with a coned nose and side slits, compatible with .223 and 5.56 rifles.
 
The terminal design is different from the pistol round on purpose. On impact the petals shear off, and the solid copper core keeps driving straight and deep. Lower retained weight here isn't the round failing — it's the design doing its job: the petals do their work early, the core carries through.
 
Independently and FBI-protocol tested: 16.86 inches of penetration at 2,307 fps from an 11.5-inch barrel. Made in the USA. 20-round box.
